30 Guys in 30 Days by Micol Ostow

I really enjoyed this book for several reasons. I thought it was very relatable to me, because it was about a college girl; and I am going to college quite soon. I liked the main character Claudia, because I felt like if she was real I would be great friends with her. Claudia was a very funny character, and I especially liked her plan to do "target practice" with 30 guys, because she was trying to get over her boyfriend. I thought this story was very realistic and was relatable to myself and other teenage girls. The other characters such as her roommate Charlie and her crush Gabe made the story even more exciting. Charlie was the complete opposite of Claudia because she wanted to be in a sorority and was a former Pageant Queen. I thought Charlie really balanced out Claudia. Gabe's role in the book was great because he was the guy Claudia could never have. I really liked her personality and how she acted with Gabe because he made her so nervous and giggly. I thought this book was a fun, cute, and quick read.

The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien

I really enjoyed this book and how detailed it was. The main character Jimmy Cross was a very sensitive and caring Lieutenant and shared all about his war stories. I especially like the prospective of the book, and the tone of the narrator. The entire tone was very exciting, and it made it easy to picture what the narrator was describing in my head. My favorite parts were when Jimmy would talk about his love Martha and how they struggled to keep close while he was away fighting. I don't normally enjoy war stories, but the stories within the book made me think differently.

White Oleander by Janet Fitch

The book starts off with Astrid, who is raised by her single mother Ingrid. Astrid is 12 years old, and her mom is a poet. Ingrid is very picky about men and she goes out with a man Barry, who is not her typical man. I think there will be problems with the boyfriend, since Ingrid seems very opinionated. Of course, she ends up leaving him. Problems escalade and she murders Barry. Ingrid now has life in prison, and Astrid has to live in foster homes. The book is very hard to read, since Ingrid does not treat Astrid with the love and care she deserves. Ingrid is very self centered and uncaring. Its somewhat hard to follow the book right now because the dialogue is confusing. At each foster home, Astrid has a hard time adapting to it because she has lived with such a loose, carefree mom. She has been raised with a very open mind so when Astrid is at strict homes it is very difficult for her. It seems that Astrid has a struggle finding out who she is because she is around so many people, she doesn't know where she fits. I wonder what is going to happen next to Astrid.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

So I just started this book and I am quite happy. The story is in the point of a boy who writes in a journal. Its not like the typical journal book where the writer says what the date is and talks about pointless things. The main characters name is Charlie and he starts off each letter by saying "Dear Friend". The story is all about his life, his crushes, his sister and his awkward self. Charlie is such an interesting boy, for example he talks about his favorite books, yet he says every new book he reads is his new favorite. Charlie also tells us about his first party, and this new girl he likes. Her name is Sam and sadly Charlie has no chance with her. The story goes from one thing to another, so it is kind of hard to follow and remember certain details from the beginning. One thing I really like about this story is how insanely unique Charlie is. He is so interesting to read about-even though its a fictional character. I feel like I know him and that he is real. The things that happen to Charlie are so relatable and fascinating. It is a really short book so I'm almost done, thats all for now ttfn:)

The Lovely Bones: FINISHED!

The ending was so amazing and suspenseful. It upset me so much that Mr. Harvey was not found, and he easily escaped when Lindsay caught on to him. When Lindsay broke into his house my heart froze. I could imagine how creepy his house was, and how everything would be set up to seem like a normal livable home, when it was really the home of a perverted murderer. Also, Suzie's dad goes into the cornfield to follow Mr. Harvey and he wants to kill him, but it ends up being some kids and they end up beating him up. I was so sad when it wasn't Mr. Harvey that Suzie's dad found, because Mr. Harvey was really there, he just made it seem that he wasn't. That really upset me. Also I didn't mention previously, that Suzie's mother leaves them. I'm guess it was because she could not stand being in the same house where her own daughter used to live in. She comes back home however and they all except her back happily. There is a lot more that happens in the end but it is honestly way to confusing to explain over a blog, so you'll have to read the book to find out what else goes on! I think anyone that wants a touching, yet twisted story that will keep you hooked, then this is a great book for you.

Almost Done with The Lovely Bones!

Woah. Lindsay broke into Mr. Harvey's house to find evidence that he did murder Susie and it completely backfired on her. She found drawings of the cornfield, where in fact she was murdered, but as always Mr. Harvey has a story to back up every single thing in his life. She rips out the drawing and just then he comes home. She had to jump out of the window and he saw that it was her. I can't believe she had the guts to do that, and it really stinks because she told Len about the drawing, but yet again it wasn't "enough" evidence to prove anything. And, Mr. Harvey created a made up story which the police keep on buying. When will they find good enough evidence? I feel so bad for Susie especially because she can see exactly what is happening on Earth yet she can not do a thing about it. I wish she could directly communicate with them to help prove that Mr. Harvey was the murderer. In the book, towards the end it is the one year mark of Susie's killing. Ray goes to the place where it is believed she was killed and he feels as though she is right there. That's probably because she is-she can somewhat connect with the people in Earth. What will it take to prove that Mr. Harvey is the murderer, and when will people see through his lousy stories that do not match up?

Half Way Through The Lovely Bones

I am half way done with the Lovely Bones and it is getting more and more intense. So much has been revealed about the murder and the family problems going on while Susie is "inbetween" Earth and Heaven. Lindsay, Susie's sister is siding with their father, that Mr. Harvey committed the murder but Len the officer refuses to do anything with out legitimate evidence. Susie's mom is also acting differently, but she does something terrible: she cheats on her husband with Len. I think its terrible what she did, but I somewhat understand because she probably feels so much tension and sadness with her husband that she needs to take her mind off of the tragedy that had occurred. I feel so bad for the Dad because he feels so alone, and is the only one who feels that it was Mr. Harvey who murdered Susie. Lindsay also has a feeling he is the murderer but doesn't tell him until later on. Meanwhile, we find out about Ray-Susie's friend who liked her and made her well aware of that, before she was killed. Ray was a suspect in the murder of Susie but he was proven not guilty. It is really sad what happened to Susie, and hopefully her dad will be able to find the murderer of his daughter.
